2009Mavic razor mountain bike shoe

Rage Cycles is happy to announce the arrival of our first shipments of Mavic shoes! Yes, shoes ( and of course wheels). The Mavic Razor shoe has many of the features of the top of the line Mavic Fury, but at a price and comfort level that is preferred by many cross-country riders.

Not everyone wants to pay for or put up with carbon soles in their cross-country shoes. For one, the price can seem high, like it’s a road shoe with a tread glued on. For another, the stiff sole, while a plus for riding, can be a drawback when shouldering the bike and hiking up a steep, slippery slope.

The sole is a stiffened nylon shank with glass fiber reinforcement. This allows for flex at the toe, while keeping the area from the cleat to the heel plenty stiff. The sole rubber, like the Fury, is Mavic’s Contragrip, a sticky durable rubber. Up front, there is a toe cap that both protects your toes and adds durability to the shoe. There are threaded inserts for toe spikes. The upper has the familiar ratcheting buckle with two Velcro straps, forgoing the more complicated cable-and-Velcro system.

Inside the shoe is the Ergo Fit 2D insole. It’s a two-density insole with a high-density heel cradle. The insole is covered in an anti-bacterial material that resists stink. The foot is protected at the top of the shoe with a micro vent tongue, which is perforated for ventilation and lightly padded to give a little cush, but not so much that your foot has room to move around when pulling up.

The Mavic Razor shoe comes in sizes 4.5-12 in whole and half sizes (37.33 to 47.33 in Euro sizing). The shoes come with removable toe spikes. There are two color options, either a Grey or White upper with Black mesh. Weight (for a size 8.5 shoe) is 360g per shoe.

    Sküüt Balance Bike

Ever since we’ve opened our doors, parents with young children (2-4 years old) have always debated on getting a trike or a 12″ bike with training wheels. Most of them dread the removing of training wheels, having to run behind them while holding the saddle( granted these are the out of shape parents…….you know who you are) scared that the little one will face plant into a mailbox or tree. Well, the solution to this dilemna here. The Sküüt balance bike allows children to get the hang of balancing two wheels at their own pace and in complete safety. You can visit www.skuut.com for more info. Here are a couple of testimonials:
“Dear Sküüt People – We got our Sküüt for our son’s 3rd birthday last year. We were amazed that 20 minutes after he was on it, that he was “riding” a bike! Within a week or so of riding (every day, everywhere!) he was keeping his feet off the ground for long periods of time! I was a nanny for 11 years before I became a mom, and I had the privilege (and the chore) of running behind little, traditional bikes, always ending up bandaging little scraped knees, and tending to my own backache! What a joy the Skuut is! Attached is a picture of my son Benjamin (now 4-years-old) with his Skuut at our local dirt bike track; where, by the way, a teenaged boy said about the Skuut, and I quote: “Dude! That is a SICK ride!” I think that means “really cool!” Take care”
    James, Rebecca, and Benjamin K.

“We bought Skuut bikes for our two daughters, ages two and four, about two months ago and they are a huge hit. Both girls mastered balancing, coasting, turning and propelling themselves on the Skuuts in a short period. They have learned balance far better than they did on their “big girl” bikes with training wheels. As a bonus, the wipe-outs on the Skuut bikes are far less frequent and much less consequencial (when they feel themselves tipping over, they just put a foot down and they stop). The result is that girls are developing their skills faster and having more fun. This is a great, safe way to teach your child to ride and a fun toy as well.”
