Salsa Casseroll Single

Simple and to the point, Casseroll Single gets you where you want to go with singlespeed gearing. A singlespeed road bike you say? Yup. We’re talking one gear that you pedal fast or slow, up hills and down, and all around town.

Casseroll Single starts out with our extremely versatile Casseroll frameset. Crafted of Salsa Classico CroMoly, the frameset provides the resilient feel that steel is famous for. It feels good while you ride it!

Designed around long reach brakes, the frameset allows you to run nice large road tires: 700c x 37mm without fenders and 700c x 32mm with full fenders. Big tires may add some weight, but we feel the extra comfort is well worth it while riding on rough roads or well-worn paths.

Our partially polished, stainless steel, forward-entry horizontal dropouts make for easy chain tensioning. Interested in running fixed? Flip-flop the rear Surly New hub and add a track cog. Finishing touches include fender and rear rack mount braze-ons, and a pump peg.

Fine, functional parts like Surly New hubs laced to Salsa Delgado Cross rims, long-reach Tektro 521 AG brakes R20 brake levers, Sugino RD2 singlespeed crankset with 48T ring, and Continental Contact 37mm tires keep you rolling. The WTB Silverado Race saddle with Salsa embroidery, Salsa Moto Ace Short & Shallow bars, and painted-to-match Salsa CroMoto stem top it off.

Casseroll Single is all about riding while not fretting over what gear you’re in. Just roll up those pants cuffs, spin those pedals, and go somewhere. Enjoy the simple life, try riding single.

Casseroll Single. Getting the job done…simply.

Electra Amsterdam Balloon 8

Marshall McLuhan once said ” We look at the present through a rear view mirror. We march backwards into the future.” Now that we have accepted that gas prices are not coming down anytime soon, it’s time to look at transportation with a different eye. The Electra Amsterdam series takes a bike that has been used by the Dutch as a tool for many years and given it a decidedly American twist. A hybrid of a California beach cruiser and a commuter bike, the Balloon 8 is a work of functional art. Easy to ride, practical gearing, beautiful paint and details, this bike begs to be ridden to pick up groceries by day and cocktails by night.

2009 Gary Fisher Rig

We think 29′ers are great. Not for everyone, but with the type of terrain we have, a 29 inch wheeled bike will work for alot of people. There’s probably not a better application for a 29er wheel than in a single speed bike. Although not the first to do a 29′er bike ( Wes Williams of Willits bikes ( www.willitsbikes.com) was as far as I know the first to take an idea that’s been around for a long time and apply it to a modern day mountain bike) Gary Fisher has certainly embraced the bikes whole heartedly. The newer style G2 geometry has made the 29′ers almost as nimble as a 26 inch, with all the inherent benefits of the larger wheel still intact. The 2009 Rig features a Fox fork at an unbelievable price of just $1299. Take the plunge NOW!

NiteRider Minewt Mini-USB

The MiNewt Mini-USB is the first bike light to feature a Li-ion battery capable of being charged from the USB port of your PC or wall outlet, providing the ultimate in charging flexibility!
Weighing in at an incredible 175g, the mounting options are virtually limitless. Although light on weight, the Mini is no slouch on power. Incorporating a high powered LED the Mini pumps out over 110 lumens and has a run time of 3 HRS!
Our new product guinea pig, I mean tester, Jeff gave this new light system a big thumbs up. ” The best previous time for me being blinded by a rechargeable light was four and a half minutes. This one had me walking into walls for a full five minutes! Plus, if I ever get a job where I have to use a computer, I’ll be able to charge it up using a USB port.”

My Bike By: Donald O.

Photobucket

Hi my name is Donald O. and I’ve been a friend of the Rage Cycles crew for about 7 years now! I have recently began working here part-time as the BMX specialist/construction dude. I’m very creative and always thinking how to improve things, so what better way to show that than by giving everyone a straight up review about my bike. First of all I love to cut and drill things, haha. I have no cable ends on my bike, instead I use custom knarps for all the cables, this saves me from buying a new cable everytime one snaps. Next up I use a bolt for my seatpost clamp, it saves weight and keeps my seat in the same spot! Another thing I have done is retro fit aircraft titanium hardware to work in various spots on my bike like the brake pads, arms, knarps, seat, brake lever, and cranks. All in all my bike comes out to 21.5 lbs with the heavy chain and all.

My favorite BMX companies:

1. S&M bringing quality USA made parts with the best warranty offered from a company!

2. Profile Racing, once again, USA made high quality parts!

3. Demolition has very nice inexpensive, light, and quality made parts!

4. Animal bikes, great design, awesome parts, they have a name with a reputation!

5. Odyssey of course has great parts, but they aren’t too up to date with new designs, I still ride them:)

6. Last but not least all the custom parts I have made, I’ll call them Donald’s Customs. haha

I’ll be posting more reviews about parts we normally stock, and parts that I ride, all the way down from the construction and how well they have performed for me, and I’m a pretty hard rider on parts!

Check out my ride:

-Donald

Evening session at the playground

We went out for a little jump session at the playground on Tues. Even though there were just 4 of us (Mike D, roomy Ben, Myself (Kenny B) and Palmer we had a surprisingly good day. We were kinda winding down at about 7 pm when the sun suddenly broke through the clouds and gave us one of those evening lightshows AZ is known for. I grabbed the camera and got down in the dirt and thorns to get some really cool shots. I didn’t even care that I wasn’t riding, the lighting was too good to pass up!

Black Market Mob

I decided to build up a single speed dj/park bike, and after doing extensive research on what frame would be best for my riding style, I chose the Black Market Mob frame. Black Market is a part of S&M american bicycle company. They are well known for making some of the coolist 20 inch park bikes on the planet.
Once I built this bike up, I knew I made the right decision. First ride, I just cruised around the streets trying to find the “sweet spot” for manuals which didn’t take long.
Second ride, it was time for some dirt jumps, so Kenny B and me headed to this secret spot that has jumps from beginner to crazy. I warmed up on the small hits and the bike was so predictable in the air. Once I mastered that section, it was time to move on to the big ones. It took a couple run-ins to build confidence, but once commited, this thing fly’s. It is such a fast bike, I didn’t need as much speed as I anticipated to clear these jumps. This bike instills confidence and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid bike that will take as much abuse as your willing to give.

Titus – RacerX

Rage Cycles was one of the first bike shops to carry Titus Cycles. It’s the ONLY line of bikes we have carried every year since titus started. Talk about some ups and downs! Yet there is one thing we can say about their bikes: when you talk about the elite four or five mountain bike companies around today, the Titus brand is always mentioned. We can say without reservation that one model of bike dominates the racing full suspension market and that is the RacerX. If you’ve never ridden one……well you don’t know what you’re missing. This frame has that almost mystical combination of perfect geometry, suppleness and flat out race speed.
